For our second rest day we’ll base ourselves in Fukuyama, a small city on the border of Hiroshima, last stop before entering Okayama prefecture. The city has a castle, as well as the Kusado Inari Shrine and the Fukuyama Auto & Clock Museum. We’ll try to see some sites, but also have some fun! The local Miroku no Sato theme park could be a nice break, especially for family members that may join us for the final week of the tour.
A rest day wouldn’t be complete without taking advantage of a local Super Sento… or two….
While not a well known city to foreign tourists, Fukuyama is a popular destination for locals due to its proximity to other major tourist destinations. As such, it has plenty of options for dining, including a number of hip cafes and eateries with modern takes on Japanese classics.
