Day 05 – Ube (Kotoshiba Station) to Hikari (Hikari Station)
88km – Continuing through Yamaguchi prefecture, this leg will traverse forests and follow the valleys of the Yaji river before a final stretch along the southern Chugoku coast into the fishing town of Hikari

A long but relatively easy ride, we’ll continue through the Inland Sea Coastal valleys of Yamaguchi. We’ll pass through small fishing towns and ride along the Seto Coastline for part of the journey.
Despite being one of the smaller prefectures of Japan by population, Yamaguchi has a lot of heavy industry due to its topography. So as well as mountains and sea, we’ll also get a glimpse of Japan’s industrial strength.
We’ll make good time on a relatively flat day, so we’ll see if we find any points of interest on the way or slightly off the main route that are worth taking a look at.

Food & Accommodation
A local Katsu Don chain will be our lunch for the day, a chance to see how the Yamaguchi style compares to the rest of Japan. We’ll settle into a coastal Ryokan for the evening with a natural Onsen. Local seafood will be on the menu, caught fresh from the Seto Inland Sea.
